ABOUT THE BAND

A conversation across generations.

Generations began with a simple idea: jazz has always been a conversation across generations. Jeff and Aidan Antoniuk happen to be father and son, but on the bandstand they meet as musicians, bringing different influences, experiences and perspectives to the same music.

Together with Roberto Villeda, Chris Law and Joshua Watkins, the quintet explores original music with one foot in the jazz tradition and the other firmly pointed forward.

Meet the Quintet

Jeff Antoniuk

Tenor Saxophone

Canadian-born saxophonist and composer Jeff Antoniuk has built a career around musical curiosity, connection and the belief that jazz is ultimately a conversation. An Eastman Saxophones and Boston Sax Shop recording artist, Jeff has toured with acclaimed British acid-jazz group Incognito and performed with artists including Marcus Miller, Ingrid Jensen and Ray Charles. A prolific bandleader and composer with over a dozen recordings to his credit, Jeff is also the founder and Artistic Director of JazzWire.

Aidan Antoniuk

Alto Saxophone

Annapolis-based saxophonist and educator Aidan Antoniuk is an emerging voice on the jazz scene, bringing an energetic and deeply rooted approach to the alto saxophone. He studied at the legendary University of North Texas and has worked with acclaimed saxophonist Ralph Bowen. Active throughout the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore music scenes, Aidan has performed and taught across the U.S. and Canada, including appearances with JazzWire Summit Workshops in California, Washington, D.C., Minneapolis and Edmonton.

Roberto Villeda

Piano

Guatemalan-born pianist, composer and bandleader Roberto Villeda brings together the vibrant rhythms of Latin music with the improvisational language of jazz. A graduate of the Peabody Institute, Roberto has become an active voice in the D.C./Baltimore jazz scene, performing at venues including the Kennedy Center, Blues Alley, Keystone Korner and the National Portrait Gallery. Internationally, he has appeared at New Morning Paris and Ronnie Scott’s in London and toured with legendary jazz-funk group The Blackbyrds.

Chris Law

Bass

North Carolina native Chris Law is a bassist whose playing combines a deep sense of groove with a thoughtful, versatile approach to the jazz tradition. After studying jazz at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chris continued his education at the Peabody Institute, earning his Master of Music in Jazz Bass in 2026. An active performer in the Baltimore/Washington jazz scene, he has appeared with the Peabody Jazz and Graduate Jazz Ensembles and a wide range of emerging artists.

Joshua Watkins

Drums

Detroit-born drummer, composer, bandleader and educator Joshua Watkins developed his musical roots in the church and a family of musicians. A graduate of Michigan State University, where he studied with Rodney Whitaker and Randy Gelispie, Joshua is now based in Baltimore and pursuing graduate studies at the Peabody Institute. He has performed with artists including Sean Jones and Tim Green, toured North and South America with pianist Julius Rodriguez, and toured throughout Europe with Grammy Award-winning vocalist Ledisi. Joshua also leads his own ensemble, Joshua Watkins & Ascension, whose debut album Redemption was released in 2025.

Jeff Antoniuk and the Generations Quintet bring together original band compositions, classic jazz, and groove-infused rhythms, shaped by five distinct musical personalities. The band draws on decades of collective experience, national and international touring, and award-winning original music. It’s music rooted in the tradition, but always looking forward.
